The Lion's Den

He lied Odette on the bed, stretching her body out to easen the pains in her stomach. She was safe, and wouldn't die anymore. But she was too weak to survive in a place like this without anyone taking proper care for her. He knew he had to take care of her for at least a week if he wanted her to be strong enough to survive.
He shook her shoulder gently to wake her up.
"Hey..." he whispered softly. He didn't want her to panic and scream.
He put the waterglass on the nightstand for when she was aware enough to drink it herself. Then he turned around to the dresser and took his top off. It was dirty and full of sweat. He had been carrying her for so long, and walking so far.
As he took his top of the sweat drops ran down his body, making his bare upper body gleam in the light from the window.
It was daytime, but he had turned off the lights to help the adjustments easier for her.

Odette woke up slowly. She'd had another nightmare about the previous night ..

'And I thought hospitals were supposed to be a safe place ..' she muttered to herself as she finally opened her eyes.

Odette looked around, where was she? Shouldn't she be in another cold and empty room, looking forward to the next game to begin. She saw the glass of water by her side but turned her head away from it.

'It's probably poisoned or something,' she thought as she remembered having to drink those glasses back in the basement. She turned her head again to see a familiar blond figure standing nearby, his back to her. She blushed lightly when she noticed he was topless.

'Why did you take me there ..' she said quietly, referring to the hospital as she turned away from him so he wouldn't notice the redness in her face, 'isn't your whole plan to kill us all anyway ..'

"Not before I've had fun with you," he said jokingly.
He picked up a clean shirt, but didn't put it on, just held it in his hand as he turned to Odette.
"And I didn't lose anything by taking you there. Professional enough to help, shady enough not to do background checks on patients. Perfect."

'I guess that's why you left me alone and helpless with Ariel instead of taking me to a hospital in the first place to get rid of ..' she stopped and turned back to him, 'just for your amusement, right ..'

She turned away from him again, staring up at the ceiling, 'why couldn't you have just left me here to die .. it would have been so much better than going to that hospital and .. and ..' she bit her lip, she refused to cry in front of him again. No matter how much she needed someone to tell her everything was going to be ok .. to make her feel like she was special and not as worthless as that doctor had made her feel .. she knew she'd never get that from him of all people.

'Shady's definitely the right word ..' she said after a while, trying to laugh as she teared up again.

He went over to the bedside with his shirt. It was a bit big on her, but he figured it would have to do until he got something else that fit her.
"In case you were cold," he said softly, nodding at her arms to indicate she had goosebumps.
"It gets chilly in here. Do you want me to get you a blanket?"

She shook her head slowly before turning back to him, her eyes glistening with tears as she watched him for a moment.

'Why do you care?' she said carefully, 'why am I even here? Why didn't you put me back with the others? .. Why are you being so .. nice all of a sudden ..?'

"To be honest with you Odette..."
He shook his head slightly and shrugged.
"If I'd know the answer..."
He got up and out of the room.
"I still wouldn't tell you," he laughed.
He came back a few seconds later with a warm blanket he put over her.

'I guess not ..' she murmured when he left the room.

She stared up at the ceiling again. What was she supposed to say to the man that had kidnapped her? She doubted that he'd tell her even if she asked him why he did it. She started laughing to herself as she pictured the villain pouring his heart out about the real reasons he brought them here.

'Yeah right ..' she thought, still smiling as he came back into the room.

'Thanks,' she said quietly as he placed the blanket over her, she stared at it for a moment, 'so, you know my name .. and if I'm going to be stuck here for a while ..' she said and looked up at him, watching him carefully, 'do I still have to call you "the villain" .. because you know it's kind of a mouthful and I don't think my poor body can keep up with saying all of that all the time ..' she said jokingly before stopping. Why was she joking with this guy? Why was she even talking to him at all?

'It's either talk to the villain or think about ..' she shivered thinking about the doctor again and finally decided that talking to the villain was definitely the lesser of two evils.

"Depends," he said and shrugged once again, but this time he was grinning.
"Jack... Joe... take your pick. I might be James next time, so knock yourself out on that one as well if you want," he was still grinning, but stopped and simply looked at her for a while.
"But my real name is John," he said softly, smiling genuinly at her.
It was good to be able to talk to a stranger. Just talk.
Even under the circumstances, it felt better to be with her than to be alone.

'John ..' she said and thought for a moment before grinning back at him, 'definitely better than "the villain" ..'

Odette paused for a moment and frowned slightly as she looked away again. What was she doing? This was the man that kidnapped her .. but even if he was cruel enough to do all of this to them .. why was he so easy to talk to .. was it all just an act .. of course it was, after all how else could he be so convincing at the hospital ..

She tried to smile again as she turned back to him, 'why do you need so many names anyway?' she asked, 'I understand if you don't like your name .. I used to wish I had a different name when I was a kid, though anything I thought of back then would probably be way too embarrasing for me to call myself now,' she laughed lightly, before smiling up at him, 'but if it's worth anything ..' she paused, she knew it probably wasn't .. the fact that they were all worthless was part of the reason they were here, wasn't it?

'.. I like John the best.'

He looked at her, genuinly shocked.
"But why?" he asked. "Your name is so beautiful." He was honest.
It wasn't that he didn't like his name, he just didn't want people to recognize him or his name when he pretended to be someone other than the villain, but that was of no importance now.
"Thank you," he smiled and laid his hand gently over hers, before suddenly pulling it back again.
What the hell am I doing?

She blushed lightly at his reaction, did he really just compliment her?

'Thank you .. I .. well, I ..' she stammered before looking down for a moment, why was she about to tell him this? 'Well .. when I was a little kid I thought that if I changed my name I could pretend that my father wasn't my real father .. and I could pretend I had this perfect life where I was alone .. and didn't have to think about any of the things he put me through ..' she paused for a second and smiled to herself as she remembered how she used to act, 'it wasn't till I was a little older that I figured out that it was my last name that determined who my family was and my first name had nothing to do with it ..'

'You're welcome,' she said, smiling back at him. She blushed again suddenly, only realising what he had done when he moved his hand away from hers.

'You know ..' she said quickly, trying to distract herself from what had just happened as she started looking around the room, '.. this isn't really the kind of place I imagined you'd spend your spare time ..' she laughed nervously, 'is it weird that I thought you spent every second of every day watching us .. but I guess we're not that interesting when there isn't a game or something going on, right?'

He smiled to himself. Of course they thought that.
"I'm just a human, I kind of need my food and beauty sleep like everyone else," he said and winked at her.
"Besides, I'm a busy man. If not, I'd probably just be watching you all day."
He winked at her without really knowing why himself. She was just so... easy to talk to.

'Only a human .. right,' she thought as she lay there in silence for a moment.

'Is eating and sleeping the only things you do for fun in here? .. you know when you don't have a game to plan .. or watch ..' she said, trailing off before laughing softly, 'I'm sure there are more exciting people in here to watch than me ..'

"Maybe..." he said and shrugged.
"But far from more beautiful than you."
She was going to be here for a week at least, so he figured he might as well be nice to her for now. Didn't want a dramatic breakdown in his room. Not when he had to deal with it.
He tried to convince himself that was the only reason he was being nice to her.

'Oh really,' she said with a grin, 'I'm starting to think that part of the reason us girls are here is only so you have something pretty to look at ..' she stopped suddenly, biting her lip for a moment before speaking up again, '.. don't you get .. lonely .. doing all of this by yourself?'

His smile quickly disappeared. Lonely?
Yes, he was lonely. He had always been lonely. Ever since that night when he was a kid. That night that ruined his life for good. The night that was responcible for everything that happened now.
"Yeah..." he said hesitantly. "But I guess I'm used to it," he said and faked a weak smile.

She watched him for a while, she never thought she'd feel sympathy for the man that had done all of this to them.

'But you don't have to be ..' she said quietly, 'I know I shouldn't be saying this .. and it's probably not the same, but I know what it's like to feel alone and .. all I'm trying to say is that ..' she paused and smiled softly towards him, 'you don't have to feel so alone .. when there are certain people in here that wouldn't have any problems in keeping you company ..'

He smiled to himself thinking of Cinderella the night before.
But then he realized she might be trying to say something different.
He sat down on the bed next to her and looked at her calmly.
"Certain people like... you?"

'If that's what you want ..' she said carefully, 'I am here after all .. and in this state there's not much I can do except talk or ..' she started smiling to herself at the thought of him wanting to do anything like that with her, 'well ..'

He looked at her confused, not really realizing what she meant.
"What?" he asked.

She blushed and cautiously reached over, placing her hand on his thigh before looking up at him, 'anything you want ..'

He couldn't help but laugh a little.
"In your condition?"
But when he looked at her hand and back to her face again his mind changed.
"Wait... are you serious?" he asked confused. She couldn't be.

She nodded slowly, 'maybe my condition isn't as bad as you think ..' she turned away and stared blankly up at the ceiling as she remembered what had happened to her, '.. the doctor at the hospital definitely didn't think so ..'

He shouldn't be surprised. He'd seen the way Odette had thrown himself at Sinbad even when her condition was worse.
He laid himself gently on top of her, careful not to put any pressure or weight on her stomach. His face was only a centimeter or two away from her face when he whispered:
"Are you sure about this?"

She couldn't say anything else as she felt herself tear up at the bad memories. All she could do was nod once again as she stared up at him, trying her best not to think about what had happened to her.

It didn't take more than one look at her to make up his decision.
He sighed and shook his head before smiling to himself. He knew it.
"No," he said and got off of her.

'Wait ..' she said quickly, sitting up to grab hold of his hand, squeezing it tightly as she felt the pain in her stomach intensify again.

'Why not ..' she asked quietly as she lowered her head, her hair falling in front of her face as she gripped the blanket with her other hand, trying not to make a sound to convince him that her stomach really would have been a problem.

It was kind of pathetic to see her try so hard and still fail hiding the pain.
"Why do you want someone so badly?" he asked with a smile.
"You don't need me, trust me, I know," he laughed.

'I just want to forget his face!' she blurted out quickly, feeling her tears start to fall as she kept flashing back to the previous night, 'I .. I want to forget what he did to me .. to replace his .. his .. against my ..' she squeezed her eyes shut, 'I just want someone to make me feel like I'm not so .. so worthless,' she whispered and started laughing sadly, '.. though I guess it's stupid of me to ask for something like that from you ..'

He looked at her with sympathy in his eyes. Sympathy. Something rare coming from him.
"That's not the way to do it," he said softly.

'But it's the only way I know ..' she whispered as she kept her eyes closed, feeling her tears fall onto the back of her hand as she continued to sit there.

He couldn't blame her. Hadn't he as well had meaningless sex with Pocahontas just to forget the pain of Megara's death for just a little while?
He leaned in closer to her and kissed her lips softly. At that moment, he'd do whatever she wanted him to do.

Odette jumped back a little, ignoring the sudden pain in her stomach, when she felt his lips against hers. She stared at him for a moment before moving in to kiss him again.
In this moment, she didn't care about the consequences of what she was about to do .. she just didn't want to have to think anymore .. she just wanted to forget ..

He deepened the kiss, sliding himself closer to her, stroking her cheek gently with his right hand. He wasn't sure if this was right, or if it was even what she really wanted if she thought about it for a while longer, but he didn't care.
She had asked for it, now he was giving it to her.

[OOC: Yay! ]

She blushed as she felt his gentle touch against her cheek. She continued to grip the blanket with one hand to support herself as she moved her other hand up to rest against his chest.

He gently shifted her body to make her lay down and relax. He didn't want to hurt her now, she had to heal quickly, or he'd never get rid of her.
He kept kissing her, but started to trail his lips down to her neck and collarbone, feeling her soft body under his fingertips, careful not to hurt her.

She closed her eyes and placed her hands against his shoulders, slowly caressing his skin as he moved down to kiss her neck.

[ OOC: I don't know why that took me so long >.> I wrote it in like 2 minutes, I just spent the last 4 hours staring at it x3 ]

He was already topless, and so close he could feel the heat radiating from her body.
He gently laid himself on top of her careful not to hurt her at all, before he started taking off his pants and underwear.

She looked up at him as he removed the rest of his clothes. Up into his blue eyes, so similar to the ones she saw before ..

'No,' she thought, shaking her head quickly before reaching up to put her arms around his neck, pulling him closer as she kissed him again, 'if I think too much about that .. I'll never go through with this ..'

[Ooc this is wayy off topic...but the way how you're describing this guy....is it possible that he's related to Vill?]

He traced his hand down the side of her stomach, and down her thigh, kissing her lips yet again, more passionate this time.

[ OOC: I didn't really mean it that way xD The eye colour thing was just to remind her of where she'd been before she was in the hospital :3 Though, Snow, we can always pretend that they are *cough* xD ]

Her body tensed up as she felt him touch her thigh. She moved her hands to his chest and pushed him away a little. She bit her lip and turned away from him, she was just overthinking things, wasn't she?

'He wouldn't do the same thing to me ..' she thought, 'although, he is the "villain" .. the man who kidnapped and tortured me .. he could do whatever he wanted and I wouldn't be able to do anything to stop him .. just like all I could do was watch last night ..'

Tears started to form in her eyes as she looked up at him. She stared into his eyes for a moment before closing her own and taking a deep breath.

'You won't ..' she started, almost too scared to finish her question as she felt a single tear roll down her cheek. She opened her eyes and looked up into his again, 'you won't hurt me .. will you?'

The question was almost too stupid to answer. Him? The villan? How could she honestly think that he wouldn't hurt her? He grinned and raised his eyebrows at her.
"What do you think?" he asked laughing slightly, though the tone of his voice showed no sign whether his answer was yes or no.
He kissed her lips gently one last time and got up.
Despite his boner, he grabbed his pants and started putting them back on.

[Ooc, darn it, that would have been an awesome little twist...XDD and yes we can Odette ]

She blushed when he started laughing, 'right, stupid question ..' she whispered, embarrased before he kissed her again. Despite being the one to have pushed him away in the first place, she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed when he moved away.

'I think ..' she whispered, mostly to herself, tracing her fingertips softly across her lips as she stared up at the ceiling, 'I think that you .. wouldn't ..' she knew she was just being hopeful but .. it was worth a try, right?

'John ..' she spoke his name slowly before turning to look at him, 'I think deep down .. you do care .. I might just be here so you can keep having "fun" with me later, but .. if you were really as cruel as everyone else thinks you are .. if that was really all you were .. why would you bother keeping me company .. talking to me and .. and being so kind to me ..' she paused and stared at him for a while before smiling softly at him, 'would it really be so bad .. to have someone around .. to just talk to or .. do other things with .. just so you don't have to feel so .. alone ..'

"I've been alone for most of my life," he said through gritted teeth, sounding harsher than he had meant. He took a deep breathe to calm himself while he zipped up his pants, before he spoke again.
"And I've managed just fine that way, thank you."
His tone was easier, lighter, now, and yet, the bitterness behind his words were still there.

'That doesn't mean you have to be alone for the rest of your life,' she said, even though part of her told her it would probably be better if she stopped talking, 'how do you know you wouldn't be better off with someone by your side, if you've been alone for so long?'

"And how do you even know what I need? You've known me for what, five minutes?"
He said it through clenched teeth, staring her down. He had no regret over the words he had spoken. Why would she even try to tell him how to live the rest of his life?
"Besides," he said, raising his voice just a little.
"I'm not the one throwing myself at any man within a five mile radius because I'm terrified of being unloved! Try fixing your own, lonely, pathetic life before you even as much as try commenting on mine!" he shouted.
